chapter 10
In this chapter of Chinese Cinderella, Adeline meets a new friend named Wu Chun-mei, she was very good at sports, her and Adeline got on quite well together. One day it had been raining very hard and there were typhoon warnings and Adeline still had to walk to school, it was even worse on the way home, Wu Chun-mei drove past in her flash car and picked up Adeline, she felt bad because she was dripping wet and she was in their car making it wet. Adeline demanded them to stop around the corner of their house so Niang could not see Adeline getting a lift home from someone else as this is breaking the rules. Adeline had to walk home from a street away but this wasn't as bad as walking from school. Now that I have finished the book I have different thoughts about Adeline. I know that she is a very independent person, but I think as she grew older she has gotten a lot more independent and very mature. I really did like this book I actually wish that it went for longer because I wanted to read more, I felt for Adeline in this book but I didn't have huge emotions to it. I think that this was a great book to read and I really enjoyed it.
chapter 9
In this chapter of Chinese Cinderella, it is the Chinese New Year and because this is a big celebration in China, Niang orders a tailor to make new costumes/out fits as this means the start of something new. Adeline outfit was a basic brown smock; big sister had a padded silk qipao. Her three brothers were handed the exact same outfit but in different sizes. When big brother saw this he replied by saying “Trash, who wants junk like this”. The brothers have been angry with their appearances as Niang ordered them to shave their head and as of this they were called “Buddhist Monks” at school and were getting teased. Also in this chapter the children were trying to organize a way to get better looked after, they have been sick of the way they are getting treated by having unfair amounts of food and casual New Year out fits. They all decided to send a letter to their father written by anonymous but also written in English so that Niang could not read because she can not read English, in their letter they were going to explain how unfairly they think they are getting treated and how sad they are about it. As to their surprise Niang was standing right outside the door listening to every single word that they were saying so they screwed that plan. So far in the book the character that I would like to be would be big sister, she doesn't get that badly treated and she gets a bit favoured by Niang, she is not the most favoured in the family but I would be happy with my life if I was her.

chapter 8
In this chapter Adeline’s Ye Ye had been giving the children money to ride the tram to and from school so they didn’t have to walk the long distance. After only a few short weeks Ye Ye’s money had been spent and he had no money left. I felt sorry for Ye Ye that he was doing such a good deed towards the children then for his money to be all gone is so unfortunate. It was brought up a dinner one night, Aunt Baba wanted to get a job so she could earn her own money instead of taking it from Niang and Adeline’s father. I felt somewhat proud of Aunt Baba to try and take the matter into her own hands. Ye Ye brought up the pocket money for the children which was rejected immediately. Adeline’s Father seemed annoyed “ You don’t need to work like a commoner, you have everything you need here.” Though they were told that if they wanted the money they’d have to go Niang and ask for it. Adeline’s siblings gave in because the walking became to much for them. Though Adeline never once came to ask for money she’d grit her teeth everyday and walk to school. This made me fell rather proud of Adeline.
chapter 7
In this chapter they have a family reunion with Adeline’s Ye Ye, Aunt Baba, third brother and little sister. It seemed like a happy time for Adeline so I felt some sort of happiness.
When they arrived little sister would not go to her mother at all, Niang had left her baby when she was six months old and now she was two, so to little sister Niang was just a stranger. This made me feel upset for Niang that her own child would not come to her, but also I had the understanding of how Niang completely deserved it. Little sister struggled and kicked and screamed for her mother to put her down, Niang screamed at her for silence but this only made the baby cry more, so Niang began to beat her, though no one said a word. This made me feel very surprised that Niang would beat her baby. Adeline finally spoke up telling Niang to stop. Suddenly Niang stopped and screamed at Adeline “ Get out! I shall never forgive you! Never! Never! Never! You’d better watch out from now on! You will pay for your arrogance!” I felt proud of Adeline to speak up like that.

chapter 6
In this chapter of Chinese Cinderella, Adeline starts her new school at Sacred heart. Once school had finished, Adeline waited for her father or Niang to come pick her up, but no one came. So she decided to walk home herself, she met a woman along the way and the woman said to come inside so Adeline did. Adeline asked if she could use her telephone to ring her father, she remembered her telephone number as her brother and her were playing a number game with their telephone number and she memorized it. So she rang her father and he came and picked her up.
Chapter 5
In the fifth chapter of the book the family reunited with their father, their father was supposedly crying before they met him. They move to shanghai into a big house and Adeline gets very abrupted by this move, I think she finds it very different and it's a very big step for her in this chapter of the book. It is a very big house and there is different floors. Every person in the house is allocated a level and is not permitted to go on anyone else’s level otherwise it is strictly against the laws. They have a dog at their house which Adeline does not like with its pointy ears and sharp teeth as how she described the dog. In this chapter big brother quietly mutters about Niang “to her, we are not separate people.over here, we have become one single unit known as all of you. Sems like this is how its going to be from now on.

chapter 4
In this chapter of the book it was winter, Adeline and her brothers and sister have to walk to school everyday and they just about freeze up everyday because it is so cold. As Adeline gets further into school she gets so smart as now she is learning about god and what he created. A few months later Niang took their 4th brother and left for a while, no one new where they went and it was very mysterious. Not long after their father left and Ye Ye told them that they had just left for a while and will be back soon. Adeline said that life became easier after that with Niang gone. Very sadly Nai Nai had fainted in the bath and was frothing at the mouth. Aunt Baba tried to ring a doctor but it was too late Nai Nai died right there in front of them. The next day there was a grand funeral, the coffin was draped with white sheets and was buried that day.
